PathBlurFX brings a new dimension to After Effects by enabling blur, smear, and motion-style effects along a mask path, not just in linear directions. Rather than relying on generic motion blur, this plugin lets you generate a vector field from a path you draw, giving you precise control over how blur flows and fades across your element.

You start by creating a mask path in After Effects. PathBlurFX translates that path into a directional field, and then blurs (or smears) your layer according to that flow.

You can control falloff along the path—from where blur begins to how strong it becomes, and taper it off toward the end.

The plugin supports dynamic sampling, which keeps the blur effect smooth and consistent—even when your mask path has complex curves or varying lengths.

Sharp direction changes can be softened by smoothing parameters, so the distortion doesn’t look harsh or unnatural.
